Interview Questions:

What got you into writing in this genre?

I write in several genres. I’ve had too many experiences in my life to only write in one.

How long have you been writing?

Since 1994, but didn’t really start writing professionally until about 2012.

What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?

I think personal skills are the main “tools” to have. If you can’t reach out & touch someone with your words, then you’re starting out lost before you ever got started.

What is the best piece of advice you ever received from another author?

“Don’t do it for the money or you’ll be disappointed every time.”

How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre?
I wish I knew. I just post up my books & hope they’re interesting enough for people to snag. I haven’t really found a true marketing plan that works for anyone. Fans push most of my books.

What piece of your own work are you most proud of?
Probably would have to go with Obsessed With The Kill on this, but only because it was one of my first completed publications.

For those who haven’t read any of your stories, what story/book of yours do you think best represents your work and why?
I think if anyone hasn’t read anything from me I’d start with The Horror Squad book 1 &/or Unfleshed, because you can grab both for free on amazon so the only chance you’re taking to lose is your time.

What are you doing next?I’m currently working on: Building A Monster 2, The Horror Squad 4, Accent Evil & Gentle Lake.

What advice would you give aspiring writers?

Write what you love & do it for yourself.

bio:

I’m U.S. Veteran and author TJ Weeks. I started writing when I was very young. My first book was published at the early age of 12 by my middle school. After serving 8 years in the military, as well as an 18 month Iraq deployment I started dabbling in writing again. I finally published my 2nd book in 2009. I started my writing career in 2012 and have been doing it every since. After close to 60 published books I took a short break to take care of my dad when he was diagnosed with colon cancer and now back to what I love most.

I have one book (The Horror Squad) going to film (2017), as well as a comic book series. I’ve won many awards in my career and have high hopes of continuing my success.

If you’ve read one of my books, please leave a review and if you haven’t ever read one of my books, please read the reviews and give one a try. There’s honestly not many bias reviews on any of my books, I have PTSD and don’t talk to enough people to have bias in my life.
