Book Review – The Cat Came Back – Matthew Cash

(Amazon Review) Five stars – Very Original Dark Horror

I have cats so I was intrigued by this book. I was also a little nervous, because I was screen-shot-2017-01-24-at-2-19-44-pmafraid for the cat. I shouldn’t have been. The cat is the evil monster in this book. And, wow! I’d face Michael Myers in Halloween over this cat!

Having owned a few difficult cats in my time, I have to admit, a lot of what he wrote rang true. As much as I love cats, they do have black little hearts sometimes, and I kept going “uh-huh. I can totally see a supernatural cat doing that!” And I guess it was because of this familiar factor that made this book so hypnotic. The author understands cats, no question about it.

I will say that if you are very squeamish about violence against animals, you might have trouble with this book. I usually fall into this category, but since the cat was doing most of the violence, somehow it didn’t seem so bad. Still just a fair warning.

One more think I want to note, is that this book was refreshingly different. No zombies, vampires, serial killers or the like. Just…a cat. An unbelievably terrifying cat! I truly enjoyed it and fully expect to have the cat in this book show up in my nightmares for years to come. The author did a great job.
