Book Name and Description: Angel’s Nightmare Adventure Series and Prehistoric Crisis
What gave you the idea forPrehistoric Crisis?
Besides loving zombies, I was also in love with dinosaurs. After all, they’re cool creatures and often misunderstood lol. Also, when I was growing up I loved playing RPG games and I thought I would mix an Epic Fantasy with the horrors of having to fight the prehistoric terrorists. In my personal opinion, Prehistoric Crisis could become a video game.
What got you into writing in this genre?
Horror was always my favorite genre when it came to books and video games. Despite the movies being rather subpar, I still got some ideas from popular movies. I always had a thrill in scaring people in their sleep, lol.
How long have you been writing?
I been writing since middle school, but I only been writing professionally for about 2 years.
Tell us about your past books and stories?
Angel’s Nightmare Adventure is my zompoc series and it got lots of inspiration from the Resident Evil video game series. In fact, the first story that I wrote would end becoming book one of my series.
What is the writing process like for you? What is your writing day like? What have been the biggest influences on your writing?
I usually start with a small outline, but I like to leave a lot of room for changes or additions. I’m a semi-full time writer, so I tend to write anywhere from 4 to 10 hours depending if life gets in the way or my freelancing job. I also try to spend a couple of hours marketing, networking with other authors, and talking to my fans. My biggest influence has been reading the works of the great Stephen King. Reading his work has gotten me to improve on my craft and to think outside the box.
What tools do you feel are must-haves for writers?
A creative mind, the will to work hard, the will to avoid shortcuts, a good editor, good networking skills, a creative marketing plan, and most importantly a lot of patience.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received from another author?
Make sure that you’re doing it for the love of the art and not just for the money.
How do you market your work? What avenues have you found to work best for your genre?
I usually try to post on facebook and twitter, although my main avenue is Facebook. I write horror with a mix of video game elements, the genre is called LitRPG/Gamelit. There are plenty of groups that have fans of the genre and I tend to make good friends there. I also moderate two groups, Reading Zombie and my own group, Gamelit Survivor Horror where we talk horror, zombies, and hell even dinosaurs haha!
What piece of your own work are you most proud of?
While all my books are something to be proud of, I would have to say my best work is my newest release, Prehistoric Crisis. It’s the longest book I finished and it’s the own with the most original idea. It also seems my friends and fans were cheering me on along the way.
For those who haven’t read any of your stories, what story/book of yours do you think best represents your work and why?
I would say out of my current works, go with Angel’s Nightmare Adventure: Zero. It gives the reader the best idea of how I create a fresh take on the zombie genre while mixing in the world of video games. However I urge everyone to read my newest book, Prehistoric Crisis. That’s because I feel at this point my work has only gotten better and this will probably be my mainstream series in my career.
What are you doing next?
Editing Prehistoric Crisis before it goes live. Also I’m working on the guide for the main book that gets into the deeper stuff of the book and gives out some secrets/easter eggs that might not have made it to the main book.
What advice would you give aspiring writers?
Write what you want and what you think people would enjoy. Avoid writing to market because 9 out of 10 times you will end up writing crap just to ‘fit in’. Just write the damn story and then edit afterwards, no need to waste time getting it perfect the first time. Make sure you enjoy what you do because this will be your job, have fun with it. Make sure you have thick skin because success does not come overnight and you will fail your first couple of books on average. Also, make sure that you make friends with other authors; fellow authors are friends, not competition. Finally and most importantly, make sure your self-esteem is high. There will be plenty of depressing days as an author, be prepared and be strong!
Angel Ramon is an author of Survival Horror GameLit and enjoys scaring the hell out of his readers while providing a roller coaster ride. He likes to plunge his readers into reads that make them feel like they’re in a video game! Zombies are only the beginning for this Amazon Bestseller for Horror Short stories. When he is not scaring himself to sleep, he likes to play video games and keeps wishing he could turn back time to his childhood where pop culture was a whole heck of a lot better. Nobody knows who this Angel Ramon is, but he is sure to scare you to the point where you’re better off never meeting him in real life.
He’s starting a new series involving dinosaurs, dungeons, swordplay and one heck of a story that will bring humans and dinosaurs to live in perfect harmony. I guess he never revealed that he loves dinosaurs as well. His favorite dinosaur is the pterodactyl as he always dreamed of flying on a dinosaur while wearing chain mail besides hunting zombies.
